Primary Research And Results For Film Poster

I decided to create a quick questionnaire before on a film poster for my trailer. This would give me a head start on what I need to for my film poster that would appeal to my target audience. The questionnaire would cover what to expect on the film poster and what are my target audience’s preferences on a film poster.

As this was a quick research task being carried out, I took out the three main questions I felt would be most significant to my creation of my film poster. Here are the following results to each question.

The results were very close, so either images or text for my target audience would be their specific preferences. This would mean I must maintain a balance between the two and make sure I put this into practise to fulfil my target audience needs.

Red was the most popular colour to use for a horror film poster which is very conventional. The reason why I had added other colour was to see what other colours that I may have to use to keep my poster interesting.

Majority of the results came through as a simple film poster with the image being more dominate. However, this was very close and I would have to take both into consideration, whether using the main image and some text around it to keep a balance of the two.

To conclude, the results show that a balance must be kept between the two where the image must be more effective and dominate on the film poster, rather than the text. The colour red would have to be the main colour, which is a common convention for a horror film poster.
